Social Media Marketing

This week in my class we have learned about using social media. Social media is a big component to advertising one's business so it is important for you to use social media for your business to reach your potential customers and future customers. 

Thank goodness, this week was about social media because that is something I understand better than probably anything else I have learned. In my class I learned that having social media for my business can actually help the search engines find my business and will most likely put my business ad in Google around the top businesses as long as I use social media correctly. 

Now how do you know which social media to use to market your business? Well, that depends on your target audience. If your target audience is around the age range of 13-20 you might want to invest in TikTok as it is popular with younger ages. If your target audience is around the age of 25-40 you might want to go with Instagram, Snapchat, Pinterest and Facebook. If your age range of your audience is 50 or above you most likely want to use Facebook. It is important to know what type of social media your audiences uses so that you can actually reach your target audience. You will not get the right customer engagement if you do not use the correct social media platform.

Once you figure out which social media platform your targe audience use then you can start planning on how to advertise your business. I have a few tips that you can use to help get your business moving on social media.

  • Add your link to any of your posts so customers can click the link and go to your website
  • Use Hashtags to reach specific people and to track how well your post is getting shared, commented, and liked
  • Use images or videos to really capture your audience's attention 
  • Partner with social media influencers and have them tag your business or provide a link to your business
    • You can even tag those influencers in your own post
  • Use QR codes on your post for any deals you may have

These ideas are good to help get the creative juices flowing to bring a good outcome from your social media marketing. 

Another great way to stand out and get customers engaged is to study your competitors and see what they do right and wrong when it comes to marketing on social media. For example, I have studied other pet stores and found that I could do better by having social media customer service meaning I respond to bad and good comments that I may receive. I have even thought of doing a customer spotlight post to show appreciation to my customers as my competitors don't this. Doing those things will show that I care and value my customers which I believe is important because you can gain customer trust and if a customers trusts you and you keep that trust they will be loyal to your business.

Social media is such a great and fun way to get your business out into the world and make it more public. I had so much fun learning about how to improve my social media marketing by knowing which social media platform to use, how I should market, and how I can be better than my competitors. This really allows you to be creative so I encourage you to be creative and really try to stand out from the crowd. Have fun with social media marketing and enjoy watching your business spread across the nation, and even globe, as you watch your posts get views, shares, likes, and comments.
