Linking and Google Analytics

Well my class is coming to an end and I am a little sad. I learned so much from my class. Starting out it was so scary and I was so worried about how the heck I was going to make a good website. But over the whole course my fear turned into excitement as I learned about all the intricate things that go into having and maintaining a website. There were times I was surprised I did certain things right because there were a few confusing things in there, but I did it and I am proud of myself. I hope you all are proud of yourself too as you took this journey with me. Now before I go, I want to talk about a couple things that I learned this week.

This week I learned about linking and good analytics. Linking was confusing to me because I didn't know if it was talking about having links on my website or me having my website link on other peoples website and social media. But I figured out that it was talking about me having links to my website on social media, blogs, other business websites and ect. We created a plan for or linking strategy and mine was to link with my suppliers because when people shop on my suppliers website they could just send them to my website to purchase the actual product. However, this may be difficult because I would have to see if they would allow me to do that. It is a hit or miss, but I still think is worth a shot. Until then I will mostly focus on having my links on social media by posting links myself or getting customers to post my links. With links thought, you want to be careful not to have too many. If you have too many then you look spammy and the search engines won't give you the time of day. Just be mindful when you are creating and putting links out there online. You want to try and find a medium of having a few links, but not too many. And that is all to it. Now let's talk about Google Analytics.

Google Analytics is my favorite tool because it studies the behavior of customers and it can help you pinpoint where a majority of your customers are from and the age range of those customers and it can even show you what gender your appeal to most. I looked at mine because I was curious about who I was attracting and if it was my right target audience. I hit my target audience for the age category as many people in their 20's and 30's have been looking at my site. You can also see what device your customers use to look at your website. That is super helpful because then you can make adjustments to your website to fit the device your customers mainly use. I encourage you guys to really explore and mess around with Google Analytics. It is something that is really helpful.

I hope you all have taken in what I have learned and tried to go out and do it for yourself. Don't forget to always have fun when creating your website, even when you hit the hard stuff. Take a breath and do some research and once you get over the hard parts it will be smooth sailing. Besides what is life if we don't have the hard parts in our lives? Use the hiccups and the frustration to learn and keep pushing through because you can do it. I had no experience whatsoever creating a website and I did it and so can you. Enjoy your new websites and remember to always keep up with them by changing things on your landing page to interest more customers, change thing on Google Ads to reach your target audience, and optimize your search engine capability so you can have a high rank and maybe one day overthrow your competitors. Good luck everyone and thank you for staying with me on this journey.
